Makerere Kivulu Slum

What is most striking in this slum, is not the terrible facts and images which comprise of the majority, but rather the memorable conclusion of the many orphaned children playing, dancing and singing without any hope of today or tomorrow.

It impacts a message of hope because, despite the extreme poverty witnessed here, these children still feel hope for the future .kivvulu slum is located along LDC as one approaches Kiseka market.

Diseases are rampant here and for those children who loose their parents, they are abandoned and either taken to the streets or shift away from the place. This is because there are no orphanage centers in the region.

Housing mainly constitutes of mud, tiny and very old iron sheets. Sanitation is also very poor where residents lack access to clean water and toilets, Residents must often pay for contaminated water as well as use of public toilets. The conditions are appaling.
